Can the HOMESENSE Smart Switch be used for Two-Way or Three-Way switching?

HOMESENSE Smart Switches are Single Pole switches and cannot be wired for Two-Way or Three-Way switching. However, this can be emulated via Automation.

To Automate a Two-Way or Three-Way switch you would have your setup as follows:

  • Install both Switches so that they are both powered.
  • Only have one Switch wired to control the light circuit.
  • In the Apple Home app, create an Automation link between the two switches so that if one is switched on the other is also switched on and vice versa.
  • Now you are able to control the light circuit from either switch.

What is Two-Way / Three-Way switching?

Some homes have two or three switches which can turn ON/OFF the SAME light circuit, through a specific type of wiring called two-way / three-way switching.

HOMESENSE Smart Switches are a Single Pole switch and cannot be wired for this type of switching, however, it may be emulated simply through Automation. Contact us for more information!
